dead flowers

i knew we were done …
when the flowers began to die fast
no matter how many trims
they were dead in the water 
no more extended blooms
i even bought a new vase
all i did was get a new grave

if love is eternal,
why is it that we change?
that we cannot stay the same
that we cant keep the euphoria 

then love is not the brevity of the one
but the one that is chosen
